“In the dynamic landscape of the wine industry, enduring success hinges on a comprehensive mastery of place, viticulture, winemaking, sales, and effective communication. Progress with an innovative approach depends on a profound connection to history, family, and heritage. These intertwined elements forge the gateway to the future. This is Cultivating Legacy.”.
Andrea Lonardi
Andrea Lonardi is a viticulturist, enologist, business strategist, and a team builder. He partners with numerous family estates and established brands to craft and implement strategies for producing fine wines with an Italian soul.
Lonardi began with an academic background in Agricultural Sciences and Agri-Business at the University of Bologna and the Grande École in Montpellier providing a foundation to launch his early career in the Languedoc, Washington, and California. These early years steered him to leadership roles in production, marketing and sales at Gruppo Italiano Vini (GIV), one of Italy's largest wine companies. Here, he expanded southern Italian grape varieties into the U.S. market and managed 13 estates from the Alps to Sicily. Lonardi spent a decade as COO at Angelini Wine & Estates, revitalizing historic brands within Valpolicella, Friuli, Montalcino, and Vino Nobile, including Bertani and Val di Suga.
He has introduced innovative vineyard harvesting technologies, implemented new zoning in Montalcino, and established fresh labeling guidelines in Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Chianti Classico all while cultivating key international sales relationships to impact fine wine distribution.
In 2023 Lonardi became the second Italian to earn the title of Master of Wine. He is the Vice President of the Consorzio della Valpolicella, and a regular presenter of wine education for numerous entities including VinItaly International.
